The latest Sudan Market Prices and Availability Report (May 2026) shows that prices of sorghum, millet, and wheat flour increased slightly. Prices of several other essential commodities, including sugar, cooking oil, vegetables, and meat, as well as fuel prices in both official and parallel markets, also increased during the same period.
The report also highlights the continued challenges related to supply conditions, rising transportation costs, exchange rate fluctuations, and insecurity, which continue to affect market performance and access to food. Traders also reported logistical challenges related to the movement of goods between markets, alongside financial and liquidity constraints affecting business operations and supply chains.
The report further indicates a slight decline in the availability of some key food commodities across monitored markets compared to the previous month (April 2026), despite continued high availability levels for most commodities.
